This is to be a copy of the various log books kept by people who will be identified. If comments are added by the editor, they will be identified as such with [] so as to separate them from the actual written record. Logs from 1919 through 1931 were lost in the fire of 1931. Olin J. Ferguson (OJF) recalls the "early years in a brief summary" following the opening comments he wrote concerning the trip in 1935, and those notes are separated into the first chapter:
